April 30, 2011

Alabama's Governor Robert Bentley in conjunction with Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel has declared 2011 the year of Alabama Music. Union Springs, Alabama , has chosen the weekend of April 29 - May 1, 2011 to celebrate with a Gospel Gathering and our 32nd annual Chunnenuggee Fair. Plans include a concert on Friday, April 29. Saturday, April 30, the 32nd Annual Chunnenuggee Fair Day, entertainment will center around a tribute to the late Eddie Kendricks, a Bullock County native and former member of the Temptations. The Fair's venue will be along Prairie Street North stretching out from both sides of the recently restored, historical Bullock County Courthouse built in the Second Empire Style. A Fine Arts show will be displayed in Union Springs' City Hall across the street from the Courthouse. Hand-made craft vendors will line both sides of Prairie Street North for three city blocks. The Bullock County Historical Society, sponsor of the Fair, will have booths offering Homecoming tee shirts, aprons, walking tour maps of the City, historical publications, etc. In addition, the Historical Society is hosting a made from scratch Cake Sale Booth and a separate Sweet Shoppe where visitors can indulge their "sweet tooth." The Food Court will serve a variety of foods cooked on the premises including hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ, fried fish, funnel cakes, etc. and offer a variety of iced drinks. The Chunnenuggee Fair Committee, along with the City of Union Springs and the Bullock County Historical Society, is excited to be promoting the fair city of Union Springs, Alabama, and welcoming all music lovers and arts and crafts enthusiats to our celebration.
